Man, havent posted in a long time. I am a slacker. We have two weeks left of school before Christmas break and I am excited to visit the US for a bit and engage in yet another massive culture shock lol. I am happy and I am making a difference. I am gonna look back at this time in my life and be grateful for the chance to serve and that I am not stuck behind some desk sorting papers and making phone calls!

My creation on the beach of Tela, I used rocks, bones, fruit and whatever else I could find.

I am loving Honduras. I have been playing soccer a whole lot and have been working real hard at school. We are two or three teachers short for this year and I am teaching classes in 3rd, 5th, 7th and filling in some in 1st!! It is a lot of work but a great blessing. I really love this passage about works being a fruit of our faith from James 2 :

I returned to Honduras last week and could not be happier with my decision. I missed the kids, teaching and this culture so much. It is so welcoming here and there is so much everyday human interaction. Life is fueled here by relationships and helping one another.

I also missed the natural beauty and tranquility of this place and hope to appreciate it everyday. I went to church this week in spanish and the sermon was about psalm 24 so I wanted to share it as it is such an important question for all of us!

Miss them so much....

I just returned from a family vacation in gorgeous Charleston, SC. I love the scenery and the relaxing feeling that I get everytime I visit that place. I found this amazing spot in old Mount Pleasant called the Pickett Bridge Recreation Center. It is an amazing spot to think and pray, especially at night with water on both sides and the Charleston bridge in the skyline.

When I arrived home in Charlotte 2 weeks ago, I could have pursued a job in finance/banking and made more money but my heart is set on working with kids and that is where I think I can make my small mark on this world. Thus, I accepted a job at an inner city school in downtown Charlotte to be a math specialist and coach soccer. I am excited to meet the kids in a few weeks and begin this new challenge. I know it will be very different than Honduras but will be interesting to be able to compare the two experiences and see which God has me better suited for. I miss everyone in Honduras, all the beautiful smiles, generousity and love. I plan to return there for my vacation time this year them.

My church in Charlotte has this verse wrapping around the top of the church and I am inspired everytime I read it:

Hebrews 12

¹ Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. I cant believe I haven't posted in a month, that is longest span ever in 3 years or so that I have not updated this thing....

I just got back from El Salvador visit and am finishing the school year here in Honduras. Booked a flight home in a few days and its gonna be very sad to say hasta pronto to everyone here. It really has been a wonderful experience and I am very thankful. I have several options for what to do next with my life and just need to pick one :)
