9-23 Keep Your Eyes Open

Maya Vista Hotel in Tela, Honduras
Sunset on the beach
Hanging out in Pena Blanca in a parade

My creation on the beach of Tela, I used rocks, bones, fruit and whatever else I could find.

I am loving Honduras. I have been playing soccer a whole lot and have been working real hard at school. We are two or three teachers short for this year and I am teaching classes in 3rd, 5th, 7th and filling in some in 1st!! It is a lot of work but a great blessing. If you read this and are interested in teaching at our school this year or for future years, please hit me up @ nick.maimone@gmail.com

I really love this passage about works being a fruit of our faith from James 2 :

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

9-10 Drive all night

The standoff
Beautiful Canaveral
Lago
Bridge

Adorable family (they need financial help to attend the school so please let me know if you want to graciously support these 3 adorable kids!!)

I returned to Honduras last week and could not be happier with my decision. I missed the kids, teaching and this culture so much. It is so welcoming here and there is so much everyday human interaction. Life is fueled here by relationships and helping one another.
I also missed the natural beauty and tranquility of this place and hope to appreciate it everyday. I went to church this week in spanish and the sermon was about psalm 24 so I wanted to share it as it is such an important question for all of us!

Psalm 24

1 The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
2 for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.

3 Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol
or swear by a false god.
